I know the powers that be would have commissioned it on his behalf, but right now its message is "this website was designed by historians and not people who have a firm grasp on the medium".
Unless it's a grand scheme/experiment to see if anyone would notice or challenge whether or not it engages people, I have a giant irony headache.

seems to me, since he passed, his son and another person took over his works.
Marshall would want us to use the medium to deepen our knowledge of the messages.
I love the book i picked up randomly by http://frankzingrone.com/ who works with Marshall's ideas.
Also, I recommend How Maps Work, which goes into details about how the human system biologically processes image information at the 'primitive sketch' level to the mind's information management level to create systems to make cognitive sense of what we see, and navigate. I could never leave semiotics alone >.< ...
